It has been a while since I last read a book specifically about innovation because it’s quite repetitive. Innovation is about doing a few things consistently; driven by a very specific skillset found in people.
With that said, I found a book that explores something that I’ve been writing about here in this blog: habits.
Scott D. Anthony, Natalie Painchaud and Andy Parker wrote a great book called Eat, Sleep, Innovate: How To Make Creativity An Everyday Habit Inside Your Organization. The gist of the book is this: You are your habits. And every organization is their habits; innovation included. Any organization that’s consistently innovative has benefited from celebrating those habits!
The authors say that innovation driven organizations celebrate 5 habits that drive innovation: curiosity, customer obsession, collaboration, adeptness in ambiguity and empowerment.
Below is a description of each taken from the book:
Bottom line: Every culture of innovation exhibits and celebrates these behaviors. Is yours?
