  • Your domain experts are apparently technologists, experts on carrier. But, this means that the carried domain(s) would be compromized. The more carried domains involved the greater the meaning loss in each of those domains. Generalists don't mitgate the loss of the carried domain. At a radio station, some installs and maintains the transmitters and towers (carrier), but other people put together the program (carried/content). In software it is too easy to just sell pure carrier, so when we move to a business situation, we don't see that we have made a subtile shift to the carried. The shift is much like the shift from variables to values. Generalists get involved and inject politics into any attempt to ensure that carried domain meaning isn't lost. I think you might not be seeing that high tech and tech are different. Everyone has tech, aka the application of thought, but the people we tend to think of as being techs are high techs. It seems to me that your framework needs to separate out the techs from the high techs, and the techs from the generalists. A business is full of experts beyond the high tech experts, but we are not respecting that expertise. That lack of respect is one of the reasons we are going out of business. The destruction of meaning is another.

  • There's too many generalists but not enough experts. I think this also has to do with this whole T- shaped people, broad and deep. And like you said if there's too many of one but not enough of the others then we have complete dis balance.

What do you mean by destruction of meaning?
